9/20/2023 0 Comments National margarita day 2021 memeTHE ROOSEVELT ROOM This is the Downtown watering hole where you’ll get, we daresay, the classiest margaritas. Suggestion: Check out that lovely new Z’patio in the Arboretum venue. Get it? And these smaller-yet-powerful delights will be on sale for $2.22 at both Z’Tejas locations in honor of National Margarita Day. Listen: It’s called a Little Larry because it was named after Larry Foles, one of the restaurant’s founders, who would always order a taste of the house margarita via a four-ounces pour. They’re almost as known for their margaritas as they are for the delicious Southwestern cuisine their kitchen’s so busy dishing out, right? And so their Little Larry margarita will be – Oh, right. Z’TEJAS Of course these folks are splashing the ’rita specials on Monday. Why? Oh, c'mon: LALO tequila, lime juice, Naranja orange liqueur, and a splash of simple syrup? From the House of Noms that Fermín Núñez built? This is the high point, we'd suggest, of quintessential Austin goodness – especially on a Monday, baby, especially on a Monday. SUERTE The LALO Margarita is the most requested cocktail on this Eastside eatery's cocktail menu. Note: These are available from all Austin locations except Lil Doddy on William Cannon. Or you can “Go Small,” with any of Hopdoddy’s single-serving margarita variations ($5) to enjoy in-person or at home. 22, you can “Go Big,” with either of Hopdoddy’s batched, to-go margaritas ($20) – The Rocks is a 32-ounce bottle of their signature Doble Fina Margarita, and The Roadie is a half-gallon bag of the House Frozen Margarita. But, no, even these purveyors of superior burgers and more are, ah, juicing up the tasty margarita love this weekend. HOPDODDY’S This place is already so beloved in Austin and beyond, you’d think they might forget the whole celebration thing and just be all business-as-usual. … but, still, working under the assumption that it’s always a good time for margaritas – especially on National Margarita Day – and double especially in the town where Jimmy Buffet wrote his classic “Margaritaville” – we’re offering this quartet of where the getting’s good: There are still plenty of people trying to 1) recover from that freezing assault and its effects on the state’s unregulated power grid, and 2) generate enough bile-infused spit with which to shower a certain Ted “Cancun” Cruz … Well, no, there are still consequences being dealt with here.
